Note: This is a very dispiriting set of remarks. The total inability of these muslims students to address a Western audience is depressing. 'Agitprop' is the only word to describe it... and not good agitprop at that.
It becomes very difficult to deal with muslims who are clearly intellectually incapable of having any sensible discussion about serious matters in front of a Western audience. Incoherent ramblings, suitable for the 'shell shocked', seems to be the only thing that we in the West hear from muslims with any form of education.
Patriotism leads me to believe (hope?) that local Australian muslims can do better than this. Am I correct?

Arab-Danish Student Organizations Dialogue: "Do Not Translate That Word for Word, Just Say...."
Earlier this week, representatives of Arab and Danish student organizations met for a dialogue following the violent reaction to the publication of the cartoons by the Danish paper Jyllands-Posten. The following are excerpts from the dialogue that was covered live by Al-Jazeera:

"And another important question, in your last very concrete questions about... could a Danish newspaper have made drawings of the Holocaust or denying the Holocaust."

"And the answer to that question is yes. There's no law in Denmark preventing a Danish newspaper from making drawings of the Holocaust."

Arab Students Union Chairman Ahmad Al-Shater: "I would just like to point to a certain term... which was used by my friend, the head of the delegation, and which also appeared in the correspondence with Mr. Klaus - the term 'Middle East.' I would like to emphasize to our friends - and I'm not saying this for propaganda purposes, but because it is in keeping with the constitution of the General Union of Arab Students..."

"The term 'Middle East' does not appear in our dictionary. Absolutely not. We call it 'the Great Arab Homeland.' I won't even call the term "Middle East" an international one... Its purpose is to include Israel in this region, but this is another issue, not part of this dialogue."
Sudanese Student Union Chairman Muhammad: "I'd like to tell you that harming the Prophet is not a new thing. One thousand four hundred years ago, the Jews tried to kill him in Al-Madina. In our religion, harming the Prophet is where we draw the line. We are prepared to die to prevent this."

"The Sudanese People are so Angry... They Will Kill Danish Soldiers [in U.N. Forces] Before Killing the Others"
"As you know, Bush killed 110,000 people in Iraq, while Saddam did not kill even one third of this figure. Saddam did not kill even 30,000 people throughout his rule. I would like to welcome you on this visit, because the image of Denmark and the Danish people has become very negative in the Arab and Islamic world. In conclusion, I would like to say that tomorrow America will pass a resolution in the U.N. Security Council calling for international military intervention in Sudan. Among these forces, obviously, there will be Danish forces. I would like to inform you that because the Sudanese people are so angry over this affront, they will kill the Danish soldiers before they kill the others."
Arab Students Union Chairman Ahmad Al-Shater: "Don't translate that word for word. Just say that the Sudanese will put up resistance against them."
Sudanese Student Union Chairman Muhammad: "We will not become another Iraq, and I hope you do not respect America."
Comment: Having read this several times, it strikes me that activist muslims draw a clear line between what the muslim scriptures say, and what they do. There does not seem to be any understanding of the obligation to conform one's islamic life with the stated ideals of islam.
Thus, so long as 'Islam says'...no coercion in matters of religion, or no killing of civilians in war, it doesn't matter what muslims ACTUALLY do about these matters; 'Islam says' don't do these things, therefore Islam is wonderful and superior, and any action by muslims to actually coerce or kill non muslims, or kill civilians in war, is OK because they are muslims and 'Islam says'........
Non muslim Australian who generally have zero interface with muslims intellectually, need to remind themselves that the mental/intellectual/ideational world of most muslim activists is seriously different from the mental world common to non muslim Australians.
For this reason alone, the muslim schools should be incorporated into the mainstream educational system in Australia. Graduates of these muslim schools will run the muslim communities in the future. Do Australians really want muslim leaders who have the mental processes of these muslim students in Denmark?
Is anyone awake in Canberra?
